When I got on the phone with Taylor for the first time I absolutely knew that I would be obsessed with them. She answered the phone while still having a conversation with Rodney about her outfit she wore to the dentist, “Wait, what did you just say to me??” I immediately started laughing as she started telling me the story about it. During our call we talked about their obsession with their dog-Josie, how they met, how she makes fun of Rodney for being ancient lol…I laughed more than I should when I’m supposed to be explaining all the benefits of working with me. This is how I want all my discovery calls to go. Like catching up with an old friend, and non stop laughing.
When I showed up at their house I beat Taylor home. Rodney came out and introduced himself as we hadn’t had a chat yet. And yet another old friend like reunion where you can just chat and feels like you’ve known each other for ages. Rodney told me about the history of the house he had bought for him and Taylor. A place he grew up in and wanted life to continue in with his lady. Taylor came home and we chatted through their outfits before we set about their session!
Rodney grew up in this town and truly every corner we turned it was like walking with a famous person. Congratulated, greeted and hand-shaked for the entirety of the 2 hours we were about. The common phrase I constantly hear before a session is, “we’re so awkward..we don’t know what to do..we’re going to look stupid…” I love when I hear this because it’s the best when I get to prove them wrong! Even with all the random attention of their small town neighbors they were basically super models!
The best part of an engagement session is that it gives you a chance to experience my shooting style and get comfortable in front of my lens. I love being able to show you what your future wedding gallery will look like and how much fun you’ll have creating it with me! This was a session where my stomach hurt we laughed so much.
Taylor had the best outfits and was such a trooper! Changing in the car, or the random bank vault that Rodney had arranged for us to shoot in.
I cannot wait for their NYE wedding at one of my favorite venues!!
